Activity 5 : Challenging Assumptions

The brief was about challenging the assumption as the name suggests we had to questions usual's and common assumptions in the society everything around us.

Assumptions:

 • when we make opinions

 • when we assume that might or might not be possible

 • Considering something true or false according to our opinions

 • Making guesses

Warm up activity:

For example we were given a image of tea as our subject of assumption and write those common assumption about tea that exists around us in the society or in our brain. Few of the assumption are:

 • relief from headache and laziness

 •  strong and masala taste

 • hot

 • refreshing

 • stress Bruster

Father we were shown a picture and brand name 'CHAYOS', for the example of challenging assumptions buy changing the basics of packaging of its tea.

MAIN ACTIVITIY:

The activity further went on with the division of groups and we were given one food item for changing the usual and questioning the assumption about that food, ours was pizza, we had to list all the assumption and brainstorm and change any one of them without changing the ingredients.

We changed the pizza into different shape as the biggest assumption about pizza is it's triangular shape, that's the one thing that comes to our mind when we think about the word pizza, we changed it shape and style of presenting, we merged it with the style of barbeque and presented it as pizza to challenge the usual presentation and make it look more tempting and presentable without disturbing it's taste.

REFLECTION:

 • Look at things around us and question the usual

 • Take a break and using our brainstorming skills try to change the assumption in the society and put your thoughts into it.

 • Listing down all the possible assumptions can bring up more assumptions while working and new solutions to it.

u • Working in teams helps us get us different perspectives, opinions and assumptions.

 • We tried to change the usual presentation of the food we work on and the way it could be presented without affecting it's taste.

LEARNING MANTRA:

Your assumptions are your windows on the world. Scrub them off every once in a while, or the light won't come in.

THANK YOU!
