JOURNEY OF AN OBJECT

NECESSITY IS THE MOTHER OF INVENTION

A good narrative will tap into the emotions of your clients and allow them to relate and empathize with the design concept you are telling, everything around us has a meaningful design behind it, Everything has a personality: everything sends an emotional signal. Even where this was not the intention of the designer. All of the objects that we use have it's own fictional and emotional aspects that reflects it's design and meaning, just as everything else every design speaks it's own good, Just like a writer or a speaker chooses their words to communicate a message, good designers choose the right visual elements to also communicate a message. The larger goal and message for the design and effectively communicating that message is what makes good design, “good”, and good in all senses weather it's the emotional or the functional aspects of it, the product having both, attracts the consumer towards it and also the product changes according to the demands and needs of the market and people using it and the evolution depends upon the changing needs and emotions of people.

Reflecting on Teamwork

During this project collaboratly I have worked in teams, in order to complete the task, and there are many advantages of working in a team,

 • I used to get to complete your work on time

 • I used to also learn from others mistake and their used learn from their experiences.

 • I also teaches you to be a good listener, when someone else is speaking.

 • I learned to accept everyone else's perspective and ideas

 • I figured out a way to put across my ideas in a positive manner and not cut anyone else's point of view.

 • I learnt to trust others

 • We become more responsible towards our work and assigned responsibilities when we work in a group

 • I learnt to put my ego aside and prioritise my work.

I'll also want to follow a few points when I'm working in a team in future

• I'll try to work on my time management skills, because it's important for me to work much faster in a group in comparison to working individually

 • I would want to prepare on a topic by myself before hand, before i speak or pit across my ideas in teams.

 • I would want to be a part of someone else work more after i complete my part in order learn as much as i can

 • Keep working on my presentation skills in order to put across a good idea and present it nicely at the same time .

 • I'll work on my weakness that I spotted while working in a team so that next time i can perform better.

 •  Apart from sharing my work load, I also want to a support to others also, and in order to do that I want to work on my time management skills.

REFLECT ON METHOD OF ENQUIRY

During this project, I came across two methods of enquiry, those are primary and secondary, wherein

  1. Primary sources provide raw information and first-hand evidence. Examples include interview transcripts, statistical data, and works of art. A primary source gives you direct access to the subject of your research.

  2. Secondary sources provide second-hand information and commentary from other researchers. Examples include journal articles, reviews, and academic books. A secondary source describes, interprets, or synthesizes primary sources for secondary,

1- Secondary sources

During the project I had to relied on secondary sources of information, because the topic demand the information regarding the history of a object, so in order to attain it's history, timeline and the material used the secondary source of information was used, during one of the task evolution of object (timeline), the secondary sources were useful for gathering information and it was easier to extract the information from the sources, at the same time secondary sources of information might lead you on wrong path if only relied on single source on internet, in order to bring out the best possible information I was information I tried to go through as many available sources possible.

2- Primary source

In order to attain the reliable information from the user for their experience, it was important for me to note what they personally feel about the object, while working on one of my task I had to interview People around in order to gain and note their experience and wants from that particular object that helped me make a close list of research about the object (water bottle) I'm working on.

During this project there were multiple tasks, which were inter linked with each other like slice and dice, which described about the material about the bottle , emotional and functional aspects of the bottle helped me map down the stake holders, for example in slice and dice I wrote about the property and material of the bottle that helped me understand the chain supply of the material of the bottle, in the same way while making of the 3D replica, made me understand the ergonometric study of the water bottle, that told me about the shape of my water bottle. While listing down the pros & cons of the material of the water bottle, which helped me to understand the target user of the water bottle, for example clay water bottle is generally used in house holds, it's not fit for travelling.

Application of visual tools and techniques

After reading essence of color here in this project I have tried to use color as my medium to communicate, I have tried to used three colors on my miro in order to segregate when, why & where to communicate it better, though I don't think my color combination was that great and accordingly I got a review to better it, secondly there wasn't a thought behind it so from the next time I'll try to keep a meaningful thought behind every color I'm going to use.

Role of the material in an object

While studying about the history of material of the water bottle, there was shift in a material that made the water bottle more durable , sustainable & more affordable and the material also shifted according to the need of the consumer and demand of the market place for example sports men needed the material to be light weight so aluminum as the material of the water bottle came into the picture.

Self reflection

 • This project helped me understand the need and evolution of product according to the need of the market.

 • I was good with collection of information and categorizing it.

 • I have to reflect on all my learning in order to understand it better

 • I also want to improve on my visual communication of the project

My biggest take away from this project was

IT MAKE ME MORE OBSERVENT ABOUT THE THINGS AROUND ME WHICH MADE IT EASIER FOR ME TO UNDERSTAND THINGS BETTER.

THANK YOU
